Double Exposed Portraits

Double Exposure                   1 step on how to create a double exposure

Hi everyone! Ok so this week we are starting a new project and its called Double exposure portrait images and they are really cool! Portrait photography is basically taking pictures of a person or group of people that shows expression, personality, and mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photo is usually the person's face (eyes), but the entire body and the background or other details can be included. To make that easier to understand portraits are pictures of people! Profile view is the side view of someones face like a mugshot. In a profile you can usually only see half of their face (one eye, half of a mouth and nose...) Silhouetting  is the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background.

To create a double exposure, take 2 pictures of something you like or that describes you and a profile picture of you. Then you open photoshop, you hit file, scrips, load files into stack and then choose the photos you want to create your double exposure. When you have the pictures loaded, start doing the space around your profile shot until the space around you is white or close to white. When you finish that double click the layers and go to blend mode and press screen so you can see all the layers together in one. Then you press layer, new adjustment layers, and then play around with the ones you like until you get something you really love. After that save the image and voilla you got a double exposure image!

I chose surfboards and trees as my two symbolism images because I love to surf and I like nature and I climb trees in my backyard.  I used curves, vibrance, and hue and saturation as my adjustment layers. To explain the purpose my images more I'll give you some back ground info about me. Surfing is my favorite sport and I've surfed a lot in my life so i thought my surfboards would make a great image for my Multi image. I put the trees because I really like how they looked and the texture, I also put the trees in because I have several trees in my back yard that I used to climb a lot when I was little and I also fell from a tree so why not?

Well hopefully, if her parents say yes that she can come... We're going to Keystone, Colorado to ski and I'm so excited! Check out my blog during spring break because I will be posting photos during our break and it will be very exciting. For more photos you can check out my instagram account @laannnii . Were leaving on Thursday march 12th at 8:55PM, we have a direct flight from Kauai to LAX, then from LAX to Denver. I swear Denver has the most entertaining and best airport ever, it has everything. I practically know every part of the airport because I've been there over 20 times, LITERALLY! I even have a secret hide out spot in there that over looks most of the airport and its right next to and ice cream shop. Words cant really explain its just so wow you know what I mean? If I had to spend a night there, that would be fine. Traveling is one of my favorite things, whenever I'm going on a trip be ready for some posts :) #sumer2k15 be ready... Getting back to the Colorado Asha thing..I'm updating this post every couple days so you guys are up to date and as I write this sentence its 3/2/15 and we leave in 10 days and I and still trying to convince Asha's parents to let them come on this amaZing SB. HDR Photography

HDR is a type of photography that will make your photos look better, and adds more dynamic range. Instead of taking one photo, HDR takes several different photos at different exposures. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. This is also an old photography recently introduced to cameraphones like the iPhone and some android devices. I really like HDR, I think this is a really good photography skill and the photo looks more realistic because its what the human eye sees. Theres nothing about HDR that I dislike and I hope more people get to know the power of HDR and how they can use it in their everyday life to take more memorable and amazing photos.

To take and HDR picture on a real camera (not a phone camera) you have to first locate the plus (+) and minus (-) button, hold it down, and then find the scroller on the camera to change the types of exposure. When taking the pictures do not move the camera AT ALL! Usually when I take my HDR photos I take about 7 photos. The first exposure starts at -3, then  -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3.  HDR on the DSL cameras or any camera that isn't a phone camera is much different than the function a phone camera because I feel more in control of what I am taking a picture of and its just a better and more professional way.

In my landscape HDR photo that I was assigned to do I took the photos in Talia's neighborhood around the late afternoon sort of right before the golden hour. In my landscape, I was attempting to make the photo have depth my taking the pictures in the middle of the road and having it lead down into a forest type of landscape. My experiment photos I took pictures of Talia sitting on the road. I had her placed in the rule of thirds and I think its positioned correctly. I also had her looking across the screen so she had look room. I took pictures at m,y house about a week before I took these ones but they turned out pretty bad... my experiment picture that I took turned into a profile and my was not so much a good landscape.
