Our Animation Story

Behind the Scenes: Asha Moves Away

Our teams focus statement "Asha moves away" tells the story about how Lani's best friend Asha moves away leaving them very sad and full with sorrow. In the beginning of the story Asha comes to the new school ready for a new start and she meets Lani, they start hanging out a lot and having fun but one day Asha tells her the news that she's moving away.  Our team will try our best to tell this story by trying to make it relate to them and have them feel some emotion while watching this. I think our team chose a really good focus statement to do for this project because it tells a good story and the focus statement tells you whats its about.

The lesson that we are trying to teach our audience is when someone you are very close too and you love is gone, try your best to move on and make new friends. Kind of like the old saying, "If you love something (or someone) set it free" ... and hope that they come back! "Move On", easy to say, hard to explain, harder to do. A lot of people suffered from loss of loved ones and I feel this project will relate to those people as a life story, it can help people get through tough times if they learn the lesson that we are trying to put out there.

Some of the worst moments as a team is not finishing on time, during the 2 scene teaser and rough cut we barely made the cut. Also sometimes we would disagree but only on the very little things. Another thing is sometimes splitting up the work evenly but we fixed that.. Some of our best moments as a team is when we all laugh together when filming our scenes. During a scene Asha had to jump to make it look like she was floating across the room and we ended up taking a really funny picture of her in the air and I enjoy moments like that. Another good moment we've had as a team is laughing about the music and sound affects when adding it into imovie.

Animation Outtakes

 Gif: Bouncing Ball

Two interesting facts about one of my teammates Asha is that 1) She is one of the fittest little girl I've met, she swims, surfs, runs, and more she has some abs and muscle too and also 2) We are basically the same person, I've known her since preschool, we love all the same things and she can be kind of stubborn sometimes but that's okay. Two interesting facts about my teammate Makaio is that 1) He plays multiple sports whether it is in or outside of school (#VeryAthletic) and also 2) He has very long eyelashes. Two interesting facts about my last teammate Meleana is that 1) She is kind of a tomboy, she loves to hunt! and 2) She is also very smart and gets straight A's in school.

Stop-motion animation is a type of animation technique that can make an un-animate object or person seem like its moving by itself, sometimes in an unusual way.  In this type of animation, the subject in it will be moved in small increments in between individual photographed frames, then when you edit it together and play it at a certain frame rate it appears to be animating on its own! Gif stands for graphic interchange format. Gif is a format for compressing image files.

The story that my team (Meleana, Asha, Makaio, and I) are choosing to do is my story which is about when my best friend when I was in 3rd-5th grade moved away. I think a lot of people can relate to this because pretty much everyone has lost someone really close to them and our animation teaches a lesson or moral basically saying learn to move on, make new friends even when your old ones are gone. Also if you love something (or someone) set it free. I think our animation has a strong purpose and I like how we are sharing this lesson in a fun expressive way. People should care about this because it relates to them.

Yet by the time the food had been manipulated to capture photos of it in ideal lighting, Achatz said, what the blogger probably ended up critiquing was Warm Potato-Warm Potato.
