Invention Commercial

Hey everyone! So our class just finished our commercial invention project and its been a blast! We had many goals for this project, some of them we accomplished but some of them we didn't, mostly because we were bad at using our time wisely. Anyway, I think our team's main goal for this assignment was to

During our project while filming and getting all the b-roll we need, I think our best team moment was when we made Talia climb into my dryer, I made her to it about 5 times because the door would not close all the time. It was a moment where we all laughed and it was very enjoyable spending time together.

While we were editing and putting our footage into one awesome commercial we split the job of editing into parts for each of us so we can all contribute. I would say that Talia and I took turns doing most of the editing. Asha helped edit some parts or helped us make a decision when we were deciding between two thing like to keep a certain clip or throw it out. We all made the decision on what kind of music we wanted and who's voice-overs would come first and who was doing each voice-over.

Our team ended up  getting one vote! I'm a little surprised because during
our critique I saw many videos that I thought
were better than ours. Maybe someone voted for
the wrong video accidentally? I'm not sure.

I thought how the class evaluated made sense and for the most part
made sense I'm glad that we got these results.

This is our commercial plan that we used to organize what our commercial was gonna be about.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to another one of my GT blog posts! We are doing a commercial invention project but just before that we did a quick small scavenger hunt project on composition techniques. I worked on this with Asha and Talia, our team was given 10 different composition techniques to find and film. I think the most important composition technique in my opinion for us to learn is unusual angles so we learn new ways to entertain our audience with creative looking shots! It's is different and eye catching and I really like watching things that will draw my attention. But also every other composition technique are equally important, it is just my opinion that unusual angles are most important to e.

The most difficult composition techniques for our class was Leading Lines because most of us when we filmed leading lines we didn't film it right so I guess we didn't understand it enough. When we did ours we also didn't film leading lines the right way because leading lines starts from the point of view from the photographer (I think). We can use leading lines more when we want viewers to focus on a specific point or place in the photo and leading line can draw your eye to it. We also use leading lines to create a contrast and provides a sense of flow and balance in our image. It helps draw the viewers eye to the photo like a magnet!

My teammates were Talia and Asha. For rule of thirds scenery I filmed and Talia spoke ~ For Rule of Thirds Subject  Talia spoke and filmed it and I was in it ~ For Contrast in Content I spoke and Asha filmed ~ For Leading Lines I spoke, Asha filmed it, and Talia was in it, ~ For Framing  I spoke, Talia filmed it, and Asha was in it, ~ For Parts of a Whole I spoke, Talia filmed, and Asha was in it ~ For Extreme Close Up I spoke, Talia filmed, and Asha was in it ~ For Repetition of Shapes I spoke and Talia filmed ~ For Group Shot Asha spoke and filmed and Talia, Maddie, and, Kyler were in it ~ For Unusual Angles Talia filmed and spoke and Asha was in it. I cut the clips, Asha chose the music and Transitions, and Talia edited it all together. At the end we all watched it together and we did notice some mistakes but we didn't have time to fix it.

Here are a few jpgs of Asha and I "modeling" Rule of Thirds subject and Framing.

Cracking the Code

Hello everyone that reads my awesome blog! Its quarter two and so far we are already starting to finish one of our smaller projects which is making a video about composition techniques. We are also practicing some lessons on code and so we will be starting our innovate project which from my understanding, we will be creating something like a commercial I think. I believe it is important that everyone learns how to code at some point in their life because later in the future, the upcoming generations will rely more on technology for almost everything because inventors and technology is becoming more advance everyday. We also need more coders which could be a popular job in the future so it will always be good to know because you never know when yo might need it.

The 1st experience that I had with programming in this class wasn't really hard because I have games on my phone where you can do stuff like that so it was easy to figure out on most part. I also did coding/programming before a couple years before this so I recognized what we were doing with this. I also thought when I did coding in this class it also got more fun as we kept going with it and went on new levels. It was a really good experience and I wan to continue with this for a while because it's important.

If I could design any program or game, I would design a game with dogs instead of people. In it you can choose to be a male or female and you get to choose what kind of dog you'd want it to be and you could dress the dog up in an outfit, out make up on it, put on a wig, and even shoes! When done designing your pup, it would be a survival game in the woods where you can make houses, find allies, and make sure you don't turn into a zombie dog! You must also kill all the zombie dogs if you want to live! This game is kind of a mix up between barbie dress up games, club penguin, and Minecraft. Yep well thats what goes through my mind if you ask me to design something my own! (laughing emoji's)

My Humorous Monologue

AloL_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Greetings everyone to my second blog post for our "Humorous Monologue" project! Well I've learned a lot from this project but the absolute hardest thing for me during this project and I still haven't learned how to do this perfectly yet, is spell the word MONOLOGUE! I will write it out and I still never got it right spelling it on the first try. I've been using spell check EVERY SINGLE TIME. Well other things that I learned from this project that is probably more important to learn is learn different ways on how to make people laugh. Some ways that I learned this is insulting yourself because sometimes you may be the funniest thing you know, also having something thats original and not laughing at your own joke when you are telling it (most of the times.)

Pad. Pad is basically the thing that Mr. Sanderl will get a little crazy about because we kind of forget to use pad a lot no matter how many times he tells us even though it is really important mwahaha. No but f'real pad is actually when you film something like a voice over or audio or b-roll but before any of the action starts. Its is also filming a couple of plain seconds so you have extra room to help you when you are editing to help overlap video or have extra video when editing. You pad or put extra room in front and in the back of your video before and after the action starts. Padding your clips are also very crucial because you don't want to hit record on a camera and have the action start automatically because the camera usually doesn't start right when you the record button it might take a couple of seconds and you wouldn't want to make a mistake of not recording what you need or accidentally cutting it out.

Some improvements that I would surely like to change for this project with the help of some more time is putting more effects to my project because I feel like I have the minimum requirement right now. Also I could've gotten more b-roll and better b-roll to cover up my face in my monologue . The biggest weakness I had with this project was coming up with an idea of what to do. I sent the first few days on this project staring at my screen and looking up joke examples on a computer because I didn't know what to tell about. But a few days later Tim started making fun of my toes and then it hit me. I should write about my toes! If you ever have a comedy project you need to do just think about yourself and maybe theres a funny story inside of you. :)

Check out my pictures below, Peace y0..

So it turns out my comedic video was the 3rd best in the class and no I did NOT vote for myself. In this pic where it says overall funniest video my part in the pie chart got 16.1 % of the class votes (5 votes) so I'm pretty happy!

I think the class assessed me pretty well but I wanna know who the one person is that gave me a 2...

This is my Joke plan where I figured out what my monologue would be about and how to plan it out.

Comedy Writing

Hello everyone! Well we are in or second half of 1st quarter and this new project has to do with comedy! We are creating our own comedy monologue and also filming b-roll so we have visuals too. Sense of humor is an important character trait because I believe that when you have humor it makes you a more likable person. Also humor is healthy for us because laughing is good for your emotional health keeping you happy. One other thing is also when you are humorous it will make your social life better making it easier for others to approach you and everyone will probably like you better because it is a really good trait to have. We need humor as a character trait because without it, we wouldn't be the kind of person we are today because without humor we wouldn't smile as much or basically have heart.

When I first started this project I couldn't come up with anything funny and I spent the first few days just staring at my computer because I didn't know what to write about. But then we started watching a lot of helpful tips on how to write a comedic monologue and it helped a lot when they talked about writing about something that insults yourself!  I knew about a lot of things I could write about that  had to do with me or something funny or insulting about myself. So thats one tip: Wrote something funny that happened to you. Other tips are that it is even more important how to present your monologue with the right town in your voice and the right expression in your voice. Also it's good to have it perfectly memorized because if you tumble or mess up a line it kind of ruins the monologue and it gets harder to understand. Last, two other tips for writing a humorous monologue is to keep it to a length and wording it write so that you can memorize it and also making sure it makes sense. Those are some helpful tips that I wanted to share on how to write a humorous monologue/narrative.

My comedic monologue is about my toes and how people make fun of me and Talia's unusual feet. I find it funny because this is something that will come up about everyday and it is something that I have a lot of ideas and knowledge of what I can do to do this project. Also I don't think anyone else will be writing about their feet or are put in the same situation as I am when I'm doing this project so I'm glad I have something that is unique to me to work with. The video will be featuring Talia Washington, Tim Blum, Spencer Gregory, Duke Bush, Kaimani Dryer, and myself. That's it, thanks for reading and check out this rally cool 5 shot laughing photo booth gif that I made with Alani and Asha!

Motivational Poster

Hey everyone! So this week we will be finishing our motivational poster and I will like to talk about this project so you know what this project is and how we did it. Some of the layer requirements that we had for this project is to have 4 total mages, 3 of them being symbolic images to show what represents us and one portrait picture of our face. We also have to have 2 text layers, on of them with our personal quotes, and the other layer with our manifesto (you can read my manifesto in my last post "Personal Manifesto".) For our design expectations, our text has to be kerned to fit the whole page with no blanks or empty holes. Kerning means to adjust the spacing & sizing of characters, words, and lines to have a more pleasing result. Another deign expectation we had was to have a triadic color scheme , 1 dominant and 2 harmonious accent colors, we also have to have blending options for text layers (drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, and bevel and emboss.) One other requirement is that we had to have adjustment layers for images, like levels, curves, exposure, and, color balance

Now I will explain the steps that we had to take to complete this project. First of all we had too come of with six personal quotes that we live by or that is special to us, then come up with our Manifesto. After, I put into photoshop and kerned it (Adjusting the spacing & sizing of characters, words, and lines to have a more pleasing result) till it would take up all the space and fill up the page so there wasn't any blank empty holes or spaces. I then had to take pictures of three things that are symbolic and that symbolize me, and a portrait picture. I loaded them into photoshop and sized it differently so you couldn't see any empty spots or any unusual overlapping. I then had to come up with a triadic color scheme (3 harmonious colors balanced out on the color wheel) for my text to match my photos. First of all though, I had to edit my text using drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, and bevel and emboss so it would pop out and not disappear into the photos. Then for my photos, I edited them using color balance, curves, and exposure so it flow together and look like it all belonged with my triadic color scheme and text.

During this Motivational Poster project I would say my biggest challenge was fitting my quotes and manifesto ext to fill up all the space and kerning it perfectly so it looked like it all belonged together. This was my biggest challenge because at first I couldn't come up with personal quotes and I didn't know what I wanted to say in my manifesto. I later did some up with these things but I didn't have enough to fill up the whole thing so I spent a lot of time kerning and I didn't decorate my text with fonts and stuff as much as I wanted to.  I could definitely improve by using my time more wisely coming up with the things I needed on time instead of waiting. I also think I could've improved by of course sizing my text better so it look like I'm triple spacing my lines. That is it! Check out my photos below...

This my text that I used for my poster. No effects just plain black text.  It includes five personal quotes that I live by and my 2015-2016 Manifesto!

These are my images that I used in my poster. Three of them are symbols that represent me and the fourth image is a self portrait.

And here is my final Motivational poster! Now with a color scheme, effects on the text and photos, and having the text and photos combine together to make one unified poster.
