Proactive or Procrastination?

I wanna be proactive but I've been procrastinating because I don't want to critique my Visual Poem because I don't really like it... As Im writing this our class is critiquing my video so I am trying to hide my face. WOO! The video finished but they are playing it again *hides face*. Ok now its done since that is over with Im gonna start being proactive. Being proactive can also make you happy and have no stress hanging over you. If you choose to be a procrastinator in life you'll get nothing done and you would just be dwelling on little things that probably don't really matter so my advice to those reading this is to be more proactive in life so you are living life to its fullest.

Well I spend about 7 hours in school every week day and after school from the time I get home to the time I go to bed 1-3 hours are spent on the internet watching Netflix.... yes I know what your thinking about, thats not so healthy for a 12 year old girl. It depends what day of the week it is, if its monday or friday I probably spend only 1 1/2 hours on the internet. Most of the things that I do on the internet is go on Instagram, Ask fm, Netflix, Vine and I text my friends. I realized this isn't the best thing to do for my age and I should spend more time doing my school work so I can get an A in every class.

Some things that I would change about my work habits is trying to use my time more wisely on my work. I say this because recently I just got a B in this class (GT) and its my first B that I got this year so Im not really happy about it and I just got a C in english Im not really sure why though and I still didn't show my parents my report card because I'm scared but at least its only mid quarter grades. I think the reason why Im not  doing as good as I did in quarter 1 is because currently I'm addicted to Netflix and watching the series Walking dead, American Horror Story, and The100. I think Ive been spending more time watching after school and doing my after school sports more than I have been doing my homework. Good thing Im done with the series of shows now I can and will concentrate on my work.

Lessons Learned

  • Describe: most interesting part of your project
  • Explain: biggest roadblock your team handled
  • Discuss: most valuable part of filmmaking process
  • Upload: 1-2 original images to add visual interest

Hi guys I just wanted to share about whats kind of happening currently with my team Ashley Meleana and Talia. Right now we are working on getting all of our interviews transcribed on a different document that we made in google drive. I know we were supposed to transcribe it on the writing tools document that Mr. Sanderl shared with us but we wanted to make sure we had a copy of it and on the document it just looked more clearer and organized to us so when were done transcribing it on the document we'll copy and paste it into the Writing tools document. The most interesting thing so far on this Hiki No project is probably what happens in the interviews when the camera is on and when we sometimes goof off. This is actually pretty interesting because we were filming a 6th grader and that student was really fun to work with and funny. Also when Talia and I got to be excused from 3rd period to film some b-roll off some really funny "cute" 8th grade boys.

Our team is doing pretty good but one of the biggest problems that we've ran into is getting all 3 interviews transcribed. We decided to make our own document because we wanted too organize it a different way and make sure we had a copy of  I guess. At the end when we had to move into the writing tools document that Mr. Sanderl gave us the font and size that we used was wrong so it ended up screwing up the whole document. At the end we got it back to normal with Mr. Sanderl's help and we also got a 4/4 (an A).

In my opinion the most valuable part of filmmaking progress is staying calm and not overreacting about not finishing while staying aware you have a due date and you need to get it finished. If you think about it, it actually kind of is the most difficult part because if you have a technical problem you could always ask one of your classmates, your teacher, or just look it up on the internet. But if you overreact or fight with your teammates and start having a problem you kind of  have to deal with it on your own because its a more mental problem.

Back to School

My favorite moment so far in 7th grade at Kapa'a Middle School is Art Class with Mrs. Sanderl. This is my favorite moment because its our teacher makes it really fun and we have more freedom I guess I can say in that class. Another one of my favorite moments here at school is playing and eating with my friends in the home ec room. These are my favorite moments because Art doesn't feel like school it seems like one of the things I would do for fun during summer. Hanging out with my friends are also fun because that's when My friend Sydney and I get to play spy and say hello to the new six graders HAHAHA.

One of my biggest challenges here in school is passing English with a A or B because we have these kind of hard vocab tests where we have to write, spell, and put the definition of the word. The last time I took my vocab test I got a C so I checked my work and found out my teacher corrected some of it wrong so she changed it to a B. Also during English I almost got a zero on my test because my English teacher miss placed my work into a her 6th period 8th grade class. I will try hard to pass by getting my work in on time and making sure my work will be placed correctly.

Some things I will do to be successful this year is try my hardest and complete all my work with the highest quality that I can do. I will also be nice to my teachers and try show no attitude. I know I will have a successful year if I do these things and more. Everyone have a great year :)

Profile Project Progress

Recently now my team and I are working on a Words of Wisdom project where we interview someone older than us that can share some words of wisdom. We are interviewing Mr. Relacion a 7th grade English teacher at Kapaa Middle School. We filmed during school for the interview, b-roll, and voiceovers. We are doing this project because we wanted to show everyone what it takes to be an awesome teacher like Mr. Relacion.

We filmed b-roll for our project to visually show what Mr. Relacion does. B-roll is used to hide the narration or interview cuts and to visually show or explain what the person being interviewed is talking about. Also B-roll is a way of easily showing what their talking about so the audience can relate to the story better. Also for our project we had one person narrate the story so we had to film and record voiceovers. Voice overs introduce the person and tell part of the story in the beginning, middle, and end.

I think our team could of worked better by splitting up the work more evenly and also taking turns doing each job. Keegan Kessler Kuumomi Thompson are my partners for this project and over all I think we work pretty good together. Telling by the critique above I think we should work more on the visuals of the story the most and try make the audio, story, and quality a little better.

Our team can improve from good to great by filming more B-roll and making sure it in focus so its clear. Also we could film better voice overs because the voice overs I did weren't clear enough. In the end I believe our team will have a really great story to share and project.

Practice story Refelection

For the past couple of days we've been working on an interview project with our team. We had interview one of our team members abut something, like what out team did was "Lani plays Volleyball". We filmed some B-roll of us playing volleyball, and then record one of us narrating it all. Then we edited it all in  Final Cut Pro. My team included Keegan Kessler and Kuumomi Thompson and I. Keegan Kessler Kuumomi Thompson

Our team had some challenges that we faced, we sometimes didn't agree on somethings. This project teaches us how to work as a team which was a little difficult for our team. We also got to learn how to do our project in very little time with all the stress that we had on us to get this project done. With all the commotion going on we all still did a pretty good job on our project.

I think that some things that our team could of worked on better next time is working better as a team. But in the end we got around that corner and our project turned out good. I hope to do another project like this with my team in the future.
